Dental Crowns Manhattan, NY

Dr. Brad Gorsky places custom made dental crowns in his Manhattan dentist office. Dental crowns are one of the most common procedures in modern dentistry and can be used for both cosmetic and restorative purposes.

A dental crown covers the tooth like a cap, strengthening it and helping to prevent tooth loss or extraction. A dental crown can address a variety of concerns and may be used to complete a root canal or anchor a dental appliance such as a dental bridge.

The Dental Crown Procedure

The dental crown procedure is a multi step process which is completed in our Manhattan dentist office. There is typically minimal discomfort associated with a dental crown, but Dr. Gorsky and his staff will ensure that you feel relaxed during your treatment.

Initial Visit – First, Dr. Gorsky will conduct a thorough examination of the teeth, gums, jaw joints and other support structures. Using diagnostic x-rays, molds and impressions, we look for hidden signs of decay, stress and instability. This exam will help us to design a personalized treatment plan that will restore the tooth to optimal health and function. The dentist will inform you on the various options you have for dental crowns and help you make the best choice.

Tooth Preparation – Once the treatment plan is finalized, Dr. Gorsky will prepare the teeth by removing a small amount of the natural tooth structure to accommodate the dental crown. A temporary tooth cap will be placed on the tooth while the final restoration is being fabricated at the dental laboratory.

Final Restoration – In about 2 to 3 weeks, you will return to our Manhattan dentist office for the final appointment. Dr. Gorsky will try on the dental crown and secure it for a permanent fit.

Dental Crown FAQs

How long does it take to get a dental crown?
Generally, two appointments are needed for the dental crown procedure. At the first visit, Dr. Gorsky will prepare the tooth for the crown, removing decay and defective restorations. An impression is then made and sent to the lab for the fabrication of the crown. The patient will leave the office with a temporary crown securely in place. You will return approximately two weeks later for the final dental crown to be fitted and permanently secured in place.

How much does a dental crown cost?
The cost of a dental crown varies based on a number of factors such as the location, materials, and number of crowns needed. If you have dental insurance, your crown may be covered. We will submit your claim electronically at the time of your visit.

How long do dental crowns last?
Dr. Gorsky will design your dental crown to last a lifetime. Proper care and maintenance will ensure that your dental crown will perform at its best for many years.

Can you replace old crowns or metal fillings?
Yes, Dr. Gorsky can replace old crowns that are discolored, worn or broken, as well as old metal fillings. He will place a new, porcelain dental crown on the tooth for a more esthetic restoration.
